Local Attractions and Events

The Christmas Market
The Carlinville Christmas Market takes place on the first full weekend of December each year (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). Carlinville hosted its first Christmas Market on the town square in December 1990. The Market has retained its earlier charm, with large tents enclosing the wares of talented artisans and food vendors, horse-drawn carriage rides, tours of local historic sites, costumed carolers and street performers, activities for the children, all set amid the quaint charm of the historic town square. The Market gets better each year, and attracted more than 11,000 visitors in 2008, becoming the county's only million-dollar event.
